VIDEO STYLE STANCE NO.22
MR. ROBBIE WILLIAMS 05.07.11
Williams launched a clothing line last week called Farrell, named after his Grandfather Jack. A video was shown of a couple of close, stylish pals of his bowling about Stoke On Trent wearing the gear, (see end of post). As Williams was wearing the collection too, thought he might be up for a Video Stance. He was. The stuff is good. It's been devised using classic menswear items like the Covert style coat he's sporting. Interesting to see his rock'n'roll non-deployment of watch, teamed with accurate knowledge of cologne. Pop Star take home tip: Time don't matter, but smell absolutely does, just ask Shawaddywaddy.
..Is all from Farrell, bar the nameless shoes and the Comme des Garcon Avignon (click).
Farrell is launching for AW11/12. It's a good little range. Tailored classics and all time pivotal bits of outerwear like coverts, duffles and Macs, in a solid fabric select. Also nice little accessories that don't look mass produced/conceived, and are often tricky to find.
Only low-key, timeless items have been developed, and in a controlled colour palette, so there are no 'fashion clangers'. There's a bit of Saturday Night, Sunday Morning about the ethos: Knock-about, but dignified.
He's obviously got good people wrapped round him on this project. He wears it quite well himself, no? Farrell is available from House of Fraser department stores and at very.co.uk.
