VIDEO STYLE STANCE NO.24
MR. DAVID WALKER-SMITH
As arbiter of men's style for the giant emporia they call Selfridges, buyer Walker-Smith never fails to be dropping a look when he's at the shows. He's never short of an opinion either. I nabbed him just before the Roland Mouret show in Paris a couple of weeks ago. D.W-S's ensemble is almost day-evening-nautical fusion. Complex but convincing on Mr. David.
MR. WALKER-SMITH'S STANCE
-Dries Van Noten shawl collar jacket. Am really getting into Dries tailoring. It's quite mental. Might stick it into next edition of 'STATE II', if indeed I do dare do another after 'The Lanvin Incident'.
-Lanvin pin. Looks like a bit like a hat pin, but when Lanvin use them instead of naff tie bars or for lapels there's something very interesting about them. Like you're being dressed by a smothering rich old lady. In a good way, obviously.
-Falke mens secret socks. What a coup! Who'd have thought it? Looks like a sawn off tight. Is in effect a sawn off tight. Works like a nude crop sock. Bullseye.
TS out to order some Falke sawn off tights.
