WHEN HARRY MET CHARLIE
Very little actual cool stuff happens on the X Factor, bar my boy O’Leary’s ensembles, which are total stunners, obvs. However this series I was knocked out by a style moment that actually had good music along with it too. X Factor alumni Harry Styles came on and did his song new song Kiwi. I remember the young Harry from 7 years ago or so and he was charming and cool then, but shit the bed this routine was actually double good. A great performance and the boy looked totally brilliant.
I also remember him as a sweet, mad, blue-painted face bar-man at Vogue Fabrics (click) only a couple years back. Times are changing pretty swiftly.
“A pleasure to work with Harry Styles on this project, our first bespoke client.” Charles told me “Harry’s a really easy going person and so it was easy to push that colour on him!” he continued. A total bespoke version of one of his recent runway looks made for him by Charles in a bad boy regal purple.
What a Show stopper
This was the look that Charles put down the runway. Totally loved the bottle green pinstripe all in one with pleating and DB lapels. From most recent show (click to show) which was pretty much the most signifcant show at LFWM this time. Cried a bit, maybe cos tired, who knows, just felt special.
The suit has the sartorial attitude of avant garde Brit-tailoring, with swooping double breast and chic wide shoulder. But then it goes berserk and into jump suit format with flared pants- the volumn looks superb with a vigourous guy thrusting about inside it, too. This was a proper style moment, no debate.
Okay, H has been looking super chic since being styled by Alistair Mackie, with gorgeous, stunnng bespoke Sexton ensemles in sobert or primary colours executred with rock'n'roll styling elsewhere in looks. Seriously hot. But for this TV moment he’s gone another-another level.
I remember the boy Styles he used to come and bring us Greggs from his Mums work. Look at him now. Throwing himself about convincingly with accents of Iggy, Mick and also taste of a young Gene Vincent in this all in one wonder.
Watch the performance and I dare you to tell me this is not wicked. Harold? Charles? Alistair? Super nice work boys.
